This award was created in 2017 to recognize top Alberta post-secondary students who are graduating with a Bachelor of Education Degree. These students demonstrate innovation in teaching and passion to lead their students in a lifelong discovery of history and heritage. Since 2022, each of the three finalists per institution are also granted a monetary award. Based on presentations created for a judging panel, one recipient receives a prestigious crystal owl award, representing knowledge and positive change in the world.
